Editing, like bacon, makes everything better.
And, no, editing is NOT just for authors and reporters. As it happens, it is also vital for restaurant menus, billboards, PowerPoint presentations, term papers, and so much more! A mistake can be embarrassing, and lead to unwarranted negative attention or, even worse, damage your professional or academic reputation.
I’ve heard this question posed countless times: “Why do I need an editor?”
I’ll give you three reasons:

Critiques
For this step, I read the work for the sole purpose of getting a “feel” for it. You know how, after you’ve read a book, a friend will ask, “So, what did you think?” That’s my job here. It’s a light, off-the-top assessment that doesn’t delve too deeply into any technical or content issues – although such issues will be noted. If I feel further work is warranted, I’ll tell you.
Copy Editing
This step is all about accuracy, format, and style. How do the words flow? Are there any inconsistencies? Are the facts accurate? Does anything need rewriting? Are questions unanswered? Does anything "feel" wrong?
Structural Editing
Everything and the kitchen sink! Sometimes, a writer feels trapped in a corner and can't find a way out. I'll proofread and copy edit your work, and then go deeper to identify things that were left out, locate and correct factual errors. I’ll also, if needed, rewrite sections of content, as well as suggest structural changes.
Proofreading
